Genesis 2:18

"It is not good for man to be alone; I will make a helper suitable for him."

This is the first photo of my new series, where I reimagine iconic depictions of love through a new lens. For centuries, biblical art has told the story of Adam & Eve, but we’ve rarely seen Black women in these narratives. Inspired by Adam and Eve by Lucas Cranach the Elder, this image places a Black woman at the heart of the first love story, reclaiming a space in art where we’ve long been overlooked.

Eve is created from Adam’s rib, symbolizing an inseparable bond—not as a subordinate, but as someone who completes him. This idea of two souls being made for each other is a central theme in love stories throughout history.

This is just the beginning—stay tuned over the next few months for more from ‘The Greatest Love Stories Ever Told.’ 💖
