Casual apartment shoot with carlo

Life's been doing its thing. Ups, downs, and everything in between. Lately, I've been in more of a 'down' phase than a 'up' one, which kinda put a stop on my photography mojo. But I'm still about seizing those moments when they come knocking, even if it's just a small opportunity that won't drain me. That's why when my friend Carlo hit me up for some headshots, I was in.

At first, I was all set to be extra and book a studio through peerspace. They've got some great studio with natural light. But, true to form, I tend to dream big and then dial it back down to reality. So instead of going all out, I figured, why not keep it simple? My apartment has some decent natural light, and since Carlo isn't some random dude off Craigslist (thankfully!), it felt like the perfect spot.

Despite the plethora of colors on our living room rug, we've managed to keep the space pretty minimal. And truly, the natural light streaming in made Carlo's headshots pop right off the camera. They looked good even before any editing .

After picking out the best shots, I sent them over to my go-to retoucher (I'll explain why i hate retouching myself in a future blog post). He worked his magic with some minimal edits, just enough to enhance the shots without losing their natural vibe. The same retoucher also did these photos that I shot at FD Studio.

So, take a peek at the photos, and , I'll even throw in my camera settings. Let me know what you think!
