As a black women photographer, attending the Gyalentine event in Miami hosted by the talented @ShootMeJade & @SaySukii was a transformative experience. It was an all-women event that celebrated femininity and brought together a community of women. The intimate show by a pole dancer added a unique touch to the event, making it an unforgettable night.
I loved that the hosts brought together other black women photographers for the event. This was a wonderful opportunity to connect with other creatives in the industry, share experiences and learn from each other. Being surrounded by like-minded individuals was a refreshing experience, as it is not always easy to find a community in a field that can feel isolating at times.
The event also celebrated the beauty and strength of women. It was a space where women could let their hair down and be unapologetically themselves. The intimate show by a pole dancer was a fun and liberating addition to the night, allowing the attendees to revel in their femininity and enjoy the beauty of the human body.
As a photographer, the event provided an opportunity to capture the beauty of women in different forms. Whether it was through candid shots of attendees having fun or capturing the grace and power of the pole dancer, there was so much beauty to capture. It was also an opportunity to challenge the often limited and harmful depictions of black women in media, by showcasing the full spectrum of our beauty and resilience.
In conclusion, attending the Gyalentine event in Miami hosted by @ShootMeJade & @SaySukii was an incredible experience that celebrated women and the beauty of black womanhood. It was a reminder that community and connection are essential in an industry that can often be isolating. As black women photographers, events like this are essential to help us find and support each other in our journeys.
